Longo procedure (Stapled hemorrhoidopexy)

The Longo method is a modern and gentle surgical procedure designed to treat haemorrhoids, offering patients rapid recovery and minimal discomfort.

It is an effective solution for patients suffering from advanced stages of haemorrhoidal disease or prolapse of the anorectal mucosa who seek a quick and less invasive alternative to traditional surgical procedures.

Benefits of the method
  • Minimal pain: The surgery is performed in a less sensitive area, significantly reducing postoperative pain.

  • Lower risk of complications: Due to the precise removal of affected tissue and minimal intervention in surrounding structures, the risk of complications such as sphincter damage is considerably reduced.

  • Quick recovery: The inability to work lasts approximately one week, which is significantly shorter compared to traditional methods.

Surgery

During the operation, the surgeon inserts a special instrument, a stapler, into the rectum, removes excess tissue, and simultaneously sutures the mucosa with fine staples. This restores the anatomical position of the tissues and reduces blood flow to the haemorrhoids, leading to their shrinkage.

The procedure itself usually takes no more than twenty minutes.
