Surgery

As one of the oldest medical disciplines, surgery - literally translated from Greek as "hand work" - uses human hands and a variety of instruments and devices. Today, surgery comprises many specialised surgical disciplines such as vascular surgery, gynaecological surgery and orthopaedic surgery, to name but a few.

Technical progress is introducing new surgical methods accompanied by minimally invasive procedures that are characterised by the least possible impact on the patient's body. This allows for faster recovery and return to everyday life - normally the patient arrives in the morning, undergoes the procedure, and leaves for home care in the afternoon (after spending 1-3 hours post-operative room).
