Surgery for a recurrent inguinal hernia
This procedure is a follow-up treatment for inguinal hernias that reappear after previous surgery. The emphasis is placed on the removal of the hernia and the prevention of further recurrences.
Recurrent inguinal hernias can be caused by inadequate closure in a previous operation, weakened tissues or a genetic predisposition.
The reappearance of a bulge at the site of the original hernia, which may be painful and uncomfortable, especially during physical activity.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon carefully removes the recurrent hernia, strengthens the abdominal wall and, if necessary, uses modern materials such as a mesh to strengthen the tissues.
